Big Brake Kit
The original front brake pads started to not be enough on the track do to the increase speed on the straights and decrease of brake distance.
At this point I was faced with two options: Change the pads to a more aggressive compound that is better suited to track use or go all in and upgrade to a bigger rotors and caliper.
As the intent of the car is to be the best that it can, a decided to go all out and do a big brake kit, as it solves all the problem with braking for a long time.
The primery criterion to choose the size of the rotors was that it had to fit on 15" wheels since I don´t want to go bigger then 15" if I can, so I don´t gain unsprung mass.
I went with a 275x25 mm disk what increase the diameter of the dist by 20mm and the mass by 1 kg compared to the original one which means that there are 2kg more of mass to dissipate the heat thus making the braking withstand more abuse.
The secound step was to choose the calipers to use. I went to Wilwood because I didn´t wanted to buy oem 4pot calipers from other cars which would still be pricier than the new wilwoods.
There were some options to choose from but after geometric considerations and hydraulic calculations I decided to go with the Wilwood Dynapro 4 Piston Brake Caliper Lug Mount (WIL120-9692)
The last thing left to consider were the pads.
As the car is not only driven on track, I decided to buy 2 sets of brake pads.
Ones to use on the street and canyon runs, which I went with Wilwood BP-10, as they are friendly on the discs but two or three steps better than the original ones I've used on the past.
And then to use in trackdays I went with Ferodo DS3000, which are much more agressive than the BP-10 and can withstand bigger temperatures before starting to fade. ( I´m yet to try the ferodos, when I do I comment on their performance)
